In this workshop, participants will gain new strategies for engaging students in learning by infusing literacy curriculum with humane education content that is aligned to Common Core State Standards and ISTE Standards, including STEM extension activities as well. We will demonstrate ways to foster empathy and compassion, promote critical thinking, and encourage youth empowerment by discussing real-world issues facing people, animals, and our environment in our local and global community through age-appropriate activities. This workshop is designed for K – 12 educators and pre-service teachers. Participants will leave with tools, activities and lessons that can be immediately implemented in their classroom.
